As we are on the brink of going into another season of rugby, I thought I would make you all aware that our Youth Development Program (YDP) will start on Tuesday 4th September for the 2018/2019 season.

If you don’t know anything about the YDP, it’s an initiative we have put together 3 years ago and will be now going into its 4th Year. It’s funded completely by DRFC and the John Douglas Youth Development Fund. The YDP is expanding to all players from U14 – U18 age groups giving them further opportunities to develop as players.

We have already seen 3 first players come through the program, but more importantly, all YDP players have gained a better understanding and developed improved skill sets. This years program is expanded to include talks by consultants from Spire Hospital group on injury management and prevention as well as looking at nutritional advice & Gym Inductions (age appropriate, conditions apply)

Our player centred DRFC YDP is broken down into 3 groups to accelerate the learning potential.

Under 14 – Youth Development Group – Talent Identification focusing on skill acquisition

Under 15/16 – Youth Development Program – Skill Development and player nurturing for demands of Colts rugby

Under 17/18 – Colts Academy – Focusing on the transition to senior rugby and greater understanding of the game

The program runs every Tuesday in school terms with breaks over half term, Christmas and Easter. So in effect, we will run 4 six week blocks with lots of fun games and coaches deepening the boy’s rugby understanding.

Training times are every Tuesday 7pm start until 8:30pm

We have also increased our Coaching team for the delivery of the program and they are

Ed Carne – YDP Manager and Coach

Benji Wrobleski

Adam Hollidge

Simon Crane

All the above coaches got a min of RFU level 2 coaching qualification and really good coaches with the “Dorking RFC ethos” at the core of everything they do.

With the expansion of the programme, there will further integration with the age group Sunday activities overseen by Ed Carne our YDP Manager and the age group coaches themselves.

To register for the program please complete the entry form by clicking the link attached.

The program starts on Tuesday 4th September at 6:45 with a presentation for the Parents and Players to get a greater understanding of the program.

If you got any questions then please feel free to get in touch with either of us, and we will be more than happy to help.

Kind Regards

Armand Roux – Director of Rugby –

Leo Kane – Youth Chairman –
