John Douglas Youth Development Fund application

John Douglas Youth Development Fund application

At Dorking RFC we are passionate about developing our youth players as far as possible, whether via the Youth Development Program, School Engagement or Youth to Senior transition. In running these initiatives, we have have realised that we have some very talented youth players who maybe did not get the opportunity to develop further in either an academy or the county setup.

As a club, we feel it is important to support these players who have a passion for the club and the drive to take their rugby to a better place whether its playing or coaching. The club also benefits as these players will be able to perform for the club at a senior level and help coach and mould the youth section.

Anyone wishing to embark on an experience to support development of their rugby playing or coaching is welcome to apply.

There will be an option of attending Western Province Academy in Cape Town, Coaching experiences across the UK and other rugby playing opportunities as part of the Fund’s support for players. Additionally, if there are any initiatives that might support your rugby playing or coaching abilities, then The Fund’s Trustees would be happy to consider any requests for funding.

To be eligible for consideration for support from the Fund you must:
• be a paid-up member of the Youth section of DRFC
• be aged 18-21
• have demonstrable aspirations to develop as player and coach
• have been playing/attending training sessions at DRFC during the 2017/2018 season
• be planning to stay with club on return and “give back”

The selected individuals will also need to have shown the potential to further develop as a senior player or coach.

In return for funding allocation, it is expected that chosen players will:
• play / coach rugby for the club on return
• assist in coaching the Youth Section on Sundays (as appointed by DoR)

Additionally, any player selected will have the responsibility of representing Dorking RFC and will need to act as an ambassador of the club.

This is a great opportunity for any young player to develop. If you wish to be considered, then please email Armand Roux at dor@dorkingrfc.com with the following information:
