Women and girls’ rugby is thriving — and at Dorking Rugby Club, it’s being actively championed. From our senior women’s squads competing at a high level, to a girls’ section that has grown year-on-year, the club is committed to creating an environment where female players can start, stay, and succeed in the sport.

This isn’t a side project. It’s a core part of who we are.

A clear commitment: equal support, equal standards

Dorking Rugby Club is proud to be fielding two women’s teams, competing in NC1 and NC2, backed by a full support structure designed to help players perform and enjoy their rugby.

Our women’s programme benefits from:

  • A dedicated coaching team
  • Dedicated Strength & conditioning (S&C) support
  • Dedicated Medical cover
  • A committed WomensTeam Manager
  • Dedicated Match day Photographer

Just as importantly, our women receive the same level of support and sponsorship exposure as the men’s section. That means equal standards, equal visibility, and equal belief in what women’s rugby brings to the club.

A club culture that welcomes everyone in

Rugby is about more than what happens on a Saturday and Sunday. It’s about belonging — and Dorking is proud of the social environment we’ve built across the club.

Whether you’re new to rugby, returning after time away, or pushing for the next level, there’s a place to get involved, make friends, and feel part of something bigger. The women’s section is a huge part of that energy — competitive, welcoming, and brilliantly supportive.

The next generation: girls rugby growing fast

One of the most exciting stories at Dorking Rugby Club is the growth of our girls’ section. Over the last four years, participation has increased dramatically — to the point where we now field girls’ teams across the late minis and youth sections.

That growth doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from creating opportunities, removing barriers, and showing young players that rugby is for them.

Role models, coaches, and opportunities to try rugby

Director of Rugby Armand Roux believes the strength of the women’s programme is helping fuel the wider growth of the game at the club — especially for girls seeing what’s possible.

“We have some fantastic role models in our women’s teams alongside some great coaches supporting our drive with open days, taster days and giving girls that opportunity to play sport. I’m very grateful for the support of so many willing volunteers who are putting inclusion, activity and fun at the center of our provision.”

That combination — visible role models, quality coaching, and simple opportunities to come and try rugby — is helping more women and girls take their first step into the sport.

Looking ahead

Dorking Rugby Club’s message is simple: women and girls’ rugby matters here. It’s supported properly, celebrated loudly, and built for the long term.

If you’ve ever thought about giving rugby a go — whether as a player, volunteer, supporter, or sponsor — there’s never been a better time to get involved.

Because when women and girls are backed to flourish, the whole club gets stronger.
