As pre-season training intensifies, the senior Men’s squad is coming together very well at the Big Field. With our first pre-season game just over two weeks away, we’re very pleased to share that an exceptional number of players have once again committed to the club. 95% of our forwards will be returning for the 2024/25 season, ensuring continuity and strength in our pack.

Forwards Continuing at Dorking RFC for the 2024/25 Season:

Adam Musa

Hooker/Backrow

Adam transitioned to hooker last year and consistently impressed whenever he came off the bench. He’s now pushing hard for a starting position.

Archie Caldicott*

Prop

Archie has added significant value to the front row. As a former winger with impressive power, he’s definitely someone to watch.

Ben Puttick*

Prop/Second Row/Back Row

One more year! Wolfie has been a steadfast presence, consistently showing up and always eager for more.

Bryan Karimanzira

Prop

Bryan made his 1st Team debut at tighthead last year at just 18 years old. He’s been training hard and is looking sharp.

Callum Watson

Hooker

Callum had an excellent season last year, delivering strong performances throughout.

Charlie Connor

Prop

Charlie always brings laughter to the squad, but when it’s time to work hard, he’s the first to step up.

Dan Gale**

Second Row

Dan has been making impressive strides in the colts with his rapid development. This season, he’ll gain invaluable experience working closely with the senior coaches.

Daragh Chambers*

Second Row/Back Row

Mr. Consistent. Daragh is always putting in the work, and his soft skills are equally impressive. He consistently pushes himself in all areas.

Eddie Monk*

Back Row

Eddie, an ex-colt who recently joined from Canterbury Uni, has been training exceptionally hard. His progress has been impressive, and his trajectory is promising.

Ed Williams

Second Row

After missing last season due to work commitments, Ed is back and eager to make an impact in the row.

Finn Osborne*

Number 8

Finn was a cornerstone of the team last year, and his dedication to raising the bar has been commendable.

Harry Elbrow

Back Row/Number 8

Following a minor injury setback last year, Harry has been going full throttle in pre-season and is ready to make his mark this year.

Henry Birch

Prop

Henry had a fantastic season last year and looks fitter than ever in pre-season. He’s determined to lead by example and drive the team’s standards.

Jake Dobson*

Second Row

Despite numerous family commitments, Jake remains committed to staying involved and contributing to the team.

Jasper King*

Second Row

As Co-Captain this year, Jasper has impressed with his work ethic and continuous development. He was phenomenal last season and is focused on leading the team forward.

Joe Scott

Prop

Joe is always dependable when needed and has been training well. He’s a great prop with the vision of a back.

Joel Grant

Back Row

Joel has continued to make a significant impact and is determined to leave a lasting impression this year.

Jonny Ellis*

Hooker

Our captain has been in excellent form this pre-season, demonstrating strong leadership and a smooth transition in the captaincy role. A true class act.

Matty Gwyther*

Back Row

Matty showed flashes of his potential in the 1st team last season. He remains committed to raising standards alongside the coaching staff.

Max Sheldrake*

Prop

Max has overcome last year’s injury concerns and is pushing hard for a starting spot. He’s always ready to step in and make necessary corrections.

Olly Rawlinson*

Prop

Olly was outstanding last season, covering positions 1, 2, and 3. He’s one of the most industrious players in the front row and will certainly give the coaching staff some tough decisions this year.

Steve Howorth

Second Row

Steve has finally perfected his tackling technique and, as a result, is gearing up for one more season to notch his 50th National 2 cap.

Scott Bloomfield**

Prop

As a recent colt, Scott has been working incredibly hard and will undoubtedly add significant value at tighthead this year.

Thomas Beal*

Prop

Bealo has been a constant presence and is always ready for a laugh. He also possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of rugby players and teams from the past 20+ years!

Tom Bloomer

Back Row

Tom made a serious impact during his loan from Rosslyn Park last year and has decided to stay with Dorking.

Tom Bristow*

Prop

Bristow has been instrumental in developing the younger players. His ability to play both 1 and 3 adds invaluable versatility to the team.

Tom Dobson*

Back Row

Dobbo remains a reliable player, consistently performing and always ready to step up when needed.

Tom Nairn

Second Row

Nairny has been invaluable during pre-season and is committed to maintaining the high standards we set as a club.

Tyler Norwood*

Back Row/Number 8

Tyler has returned from knee surgery last season and looks like he’s been living in the gym. He’ll undoubtedly be fighting for Dorking as soon as the season begins.

Will Goodfellow*

Second Row

Will showed tremendous development at National 2 level last year before leaving for his travels. He’s one of the most improved players and is eager to continue his progress.

Will Scholes

Back Row/Second Row

Scholsey, who suffered a training ground injury, is on the mend from knee surgery and should be back close to the start of the season. Whilst injured he’s still been instrumental in shaping our lineout play and driving standards at training.

Zak Stephenson

Prop

As an 18-year-old with nearly 20 appearances at tighthead last season, Zak is poised to continue his development with Dorking and is on his way to becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Commenting on the retention of the forwards squad and the players re-committing for the 2024/25 season, Dirctor of Rugby, Armand Roux said the following:

"It's fantastic to see how the forwards have developed over the last two seasons. Keeping 95% of the squad together puts us in a strong position for the 2024/25 season as we continue to grow and improve.

What’s even more exciting is witnessing the hard work and dedication of our young Dorking players as they hone their skills. I’m eager to see how we perform once the season kicks off."
