Following our initial Squad Update on the forwards, we’re excited to share that nearly all of our backs will be returning to the Big Field for the 2024/25 season. With 95% of players recommitting, the team will be able to keep developing on last season's growth.

Backs Re-Committing to Dorking RFC for the 2024/25 Season:

*Denotes players having played for Dorking Youth teams

** Denotes players having progressed from Colts to join the senior squad this season

Alex Power**

Scrum Half

National Colts Cup-winning captain from last year, Alex has joined the seniors and is pushing the scrum-halves while learning a lot.

Ben Mackenzie*

Scrum Half/Fullback

Ben is looking as fit as I’ve ever seen him and has been training a fair bit at 15 as well. His commitment is second to none, and he doesn’t give an inch at 9 or 15.

Bryan Hotston

Centre/Winger/Fullback

Bryan jumped across mid-season from TJ’s last year and hasn’t looked back. He has added tremendous value, whether playing at 14 or 13.

Callum Powell*

Fly Half

Callum made his breakthrough last season at 10, playing well beyond his years and proving that age is just a number.

Cam Cowell*

Fullback

Cam is on the recovery route after dislocating his ankle in January, aiming to return around Christmas. Despite his injury, he’s still adding a lot of value when he’s around, and we’re just weeks away from seeing him back running.

Cameron Osborne*

Centre/Winger

Cameron switched to 13 last year, and his second-row frame moving like a winger was certainly a sight to behold.

Charlie Nichol**

Fullback

A National Cup-winning 15 with electric footwork, Charlie will be balancing football commitments and studies with his involvement at Dorking, and we fully support his development.

Craig Holland

Fly Half

Craig was super reliable for the 1st XV last year and has been driving standards tremendously in pre-season.

Dan Riches*

Centre/Winger/Fullback

Dan made a big impact last season, showing he’s no slouch with some great performances for the 1st XV. He has the versatility to play 13, wing, and 15.

Finn Rennles*

Fullback/Winger

Back for good from university, Finn is eager to give it his all. He’s been training very hard and is looking sharp.

Freddie Fownes-Walpole*

Winger

Also back for good, Freddie has been ever-present at training and is focused on continuing his development.

George Jackson*

Scrum Half

Jacko, now holding the most caps for Dorking at the National level, has been training hard while balancing his top-level cricket with pre-season rugby.

Gregg Wise

Winger

Greg scored a few cracking tries last year and is always up for a challenge. He seems to be getting quicker too…

Hector Calder

Winger

Hector has been in and out due to work commitments but remains dedicated to giving Dorking 100% when he’s around. He’ll be challenging any winger on pace this season.

Henry Anscombe

Centre/Fly Half

Our top point-scorer is staying with Dorking and supporting Jonny and Jasper as Vice-Captain. Henry is relentless in his work rate and looks even fitter this season.

Henry Smith*

Scrum Half

Appointed as Club Captain, Henry has shown super commitment to everything Dorking-related. He will certainly be pushing for the 9 shirt.

Joe Andresen

Fullback

After joining us last year, Joe has committed for another season. He has shown his class both under the high ball and with ball in hand, covering multiple positions.

Mikey Macdonald*

Scrum Half/Fullback

Mikey is making his way back to Dorking after being stationed a little further afield, and he’ll be challenging for the 9 and 15 shirts.

Toby McRae*

Winger

Dorking’s top try-scorer is back at it again and is looking to continue his fantastic national league form.

Tom Howe

Centre/Winger

Tom had a great first season with Dorking last year, impressing with his speed, agility, and relentless defense.

Tom Iles**

Centre/Fly Half

After recently finishing his Colts year, Tom already completed a senior season as a 17-year-old and will be looking to add real value when he’s around.

Will Darbishire**

Centre

Another National Colts Cup winner, Will will be getting involved with Dorking whenever he’s available, as he is currently pursuing his studies.

Will Sanders

Winger

Will is committed for another year after a minor injury setback in late April. He should be back up and running by November/December.

Will Simpson**

Winger

A National Colts-winning winger, Will will certainly be making his presence known after that sublime finish in the Colts final at Worcester, now breaking into the men’s section.

Armand Roux, Director of Rugby, commented the following:

"There is a fine mix of experience and youth and great to see that some of the younger lads are putting their hands up already.

I’m very pleased to that we have retained 95% of our backs form last year and keen to see how this group of players develop, it's an exciting position to be in."
