Dorking RFC is proud to be launching the Dorking Youth Development Programme (YDP) on Tuesday 7th July with the commencement of Pre Season Training to encourage more players to join and stay at Dorking RFC.
This will be for ALL Players at next season's U15's, U16’s, U17’s, U18’s and U21’s. This is not an elitist group but one for all players of all abilities. Every player has room for improvement regardless of where they play.
As we all know, at these ages everyone develops/improves at different rates and their personal development programme will be detailed and tailored to their individual goals. There will be a short meeting pitch-side after the first training session to answer any questions.
The players will be given a self-appraisal form in the next weeks to complete prior to the 7th which will be reviewed by dedicated YDP coaches monitoring them at training. This will become their individual development programme to progress and improve their rugby skills and fitness. The programme will be measured on a three-monthly basis over the season checking how they are progressing against their goals and, as they are achieved, new targets will be set for them.
From the start of the season the YDP training will continue every Tuesday evening 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm for the U15’s – U18’s apart from Half Term and Christmas breaks.
The same training will continue on Sundays within their own age groups aided by coaching from first team players. The emphasis will be on how Dorking RFC play their fixtures, which will assist the youth players' progression to senior rugby and the U21's fixtures.
The YDP training will be managed by Armand, Ryan and the dedicated YDP coaches. There will be sponsors' T-shirts to identify them as members of the Dorking RFC Youth Development Programme. But they have to attend and join in to be part of it. All players are welcome and we appreciate school work and holidays will interfere from time to time.
The players need to embrace the YDP concept as they are the future senior players of Dorking RFC or indeed wherever they end up playing this wonderful sport.
There will also be closer monitoring of the players who depart for university, further education or apprenticeships so we can keep track of their rugby playing careers whilst away, with the U21’s competition at Christmas and Easter very much in mind as well as their return to DRFC when they have completed their degrees etc.
A YDP registration form is now available and all U15 - U21 players will receive a copy which they will need to complete and bring with them on the 7thor email prior to that to Maria Stanley email@example.com
