Dorking U17s 28 Moseley U17s 8
Dorking RFC U17s delivered a rousing performance on Sunday to be crowned the RFU’s National U17 Shield champions at Worcester Warriors' ground.
In a fiercely-contested final in front of a several hundred-strong crowd on the Sixways Stadium pitch, Dorking were forced to dig deep for victory after trailing for two-thirds of the game to a big and powerful Moseley side.
The Midlands Shield winners went ahead with a penalty and try in the corner before Dorking began to claw their way back with a penalty by No10 Adam Worth.
After the break Dorking's better fitness told as they ran hard and defended with great discipline, gathering well worked tries from wing Ollie Baptiste-Wilson, centre Will Bennett and full back Fraser Mosley and another Worth conversion.
Backs coach Andy Murray said: "It was an exhilerating game between two closely-matched teams worthy of the Shield final."
