We are holding a special event at DRFC on Wednesday 15th March to launch the John Douglas Youth Development Fund. This is a very exciting initiative for the club to be involved in and will be of great benefit to many of our younger members now and in the future. It is hoped the Fund will be able to support dedicated projects with the specific aim of providing opportunities for our youth players to reach their fullest potential. Doing all we can to develop home grown talent not only stands us in good stead as a club moving forward, it also fits with our One Club and Rugby For All approach by attracting more young players to the club.
The John Douglas Youth Development Fund is a fitting tribute to a wonderful man who gave so much of his time to furthering youth rugby here at Dorking, as well as to the wider rugby community. We are honoured to have the support of John’s family who are actively supporting this project. We are also delighted to announce that the Fund Council will be chaired by Sir Michael Pickard.
To get the Fund started and celebrate its launch, we are holding a fundraising dinner at the club on Wednesday 15th March. There are just 20 places left at the dinner. If you would like to attend and pledge your support, please contact Helen Shiers (firstname.lastname@example.org / 07902 774 072) by Monday 6th March. Places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so please reply promptly if you would like to attend.
