Hello and welcome to the Referee and Coaching section of Dorking RFC. 

Coaching

We welcome both qualified coaches and those who are interested in getting involved in coaching.

Coaching is one of the most important factors in developing, sustaining and increasing participation in rugby union; securing the future and quality of the game. Each of our Youth and Mini Age groups have a mimiumum qualified coach requirement. 

You may like the idea of developing young players, being active whilst learning new skills or maybe you just want to do something useful whilst your childfen are on the Field. Whatever your reason we would love to hear from you.

Anybody can try and coach rugby, but, to be an effective coach you need to undertake a number of different roles and accept a variety of responsibilities; covering the technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of our game.

Here at Dorking RFC we aim for all coaches to be qualified, regularly attend CPD courses and hold a current coach license.  

The Coaching pathway is:

To take part in most of the courses below there are several on-line line course requirements we suggest that all prospective coaches look at these before applying for the course.

The Non-Award Courses (CDPs) include: Rugby Ready, Scrum Factory, U7-U14 Age Group CDPs and a range of 15-a-side CDPs

The Award Courses consist of:

  • UKCC Level 2 – England Rugby Coaching Award U9s
  • England Rugby Refereeing Award (Level 2)

Please Note - UKCC Level 1 – Coaching Children Rugby Union is now incorportated into the Level 2 course.
